Making a difference
As a Casual Immunisation Nurse with Central Goldfields Shire, you will play a vital role in protecting the health and wellbeing of our community. You will deliver high-quality, evidence-based immunisation services across a range of settings, including community clinics, schools, and outreach programs.
This role directly contributes to preventing vaccine-preventable diseases by ensuring safe vaccine administration, maintaining cold chain integrity, and supporting informed consent through clear, compassionate communication. You will work with diverse groups including infants, children, families, and vulnerable populations, helping to improve immunisation coverage and health outcomes across the Shire.
Your work supports the National Immunisation Program and strengthens community confidence in vaccination through professional, client-centred care.
Our ideal candidate
We are seeking a flexible and reliable Immunisation Nurse who brings strong clinical capability and a commitment to community-focused care. You will demonstrate:
- Current registration as a Nurse Immuniser with AHPRA and accreditation to administer vaccines
- Strong knowledge of the National Immunisation Program and the Australian Immunisation Handbook
- Experience in delivering immunisation services across community, school, and/or clinical settings
- Proven ability to assess client suitability, obtain informed consent, and manage catch-up schedules
- Confidence in managing medical emergencies, including CPR and anaphylaxis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, schools, and stakeholders
- High attention to detail in maintaining accurate clinical records (e.g. AIR, Vitavo) and cold chain compliance
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A flexible approach to working hours and locations to support service delivery needs
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a strong customer service focus
You will also hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Working with Children Check, Police Check, Victorian Driver Licence, and relevant mandatory training.
