Central Goldfields Shire Council is seeking a passionate and proactive People and Culture Business Partner to join our team on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE). What You'll Do
As the People and Culture Business Partner, you'll play an integral role in supporting managers and employees across the organisation. One day, you might work closely with a manager to refine their recruitment strategy—developing position descriptions, crafting effective interview questions, and building their confidence in hiring decisions. Another day could see you guiding managers on probation planning to ensure new staff are supported and set up for success within their first six months.
Your work will involve a mix of responsibilities, from addressing employee relations matters and managing performance processes to onboarding new hires and maintaining HR compliance. With people regularly seeking your guidance, your ability to connect, adapt your communication style, and build trust will be central to fostering a positive and productive workplace.
This role provides a unique balance of strategic HR planning and hands-on support, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organisation's culture and employee experience.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in an HR role, ideally within local government or a similar environment (approx. 200 employees with EBA agreements).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to read people and tailor your approach to ensure effective engagement.
- A go-getter attitude, ready to take initiative and adapt to a variety of tasks.
- A commitment to supporting managers and driving positive outcomes.
Position Details:
- Salary: Band 6 with salary range of $88,000 - $96,000 + superannuation .
- Location: Maryborough, Victoria
- Employment Type: Permanent, Part-Time (0.8 FTE).
