About the role

The Emergency Preparedness Project Officer will lead the ‘Safer Together - Strengthening Local Government Partnerships' program, designing and delivering a community education campaign, in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders, including local emergency management agencies.

The program aims to support Victoria's bushfire management sector by working in partnership with communities to reduce and manage bushfire risk at a local level and support communities to prepare themselves, their properties and their pets, providing education on what to prepare for, and do, in the first 72 hours after an emergency.

You will work with key emergency response agencies and the local community to deliver an education campaign, develop materials and messaging and educate community members at public events such as planned information days, markets and other community events.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about emergency management, community education and preparing and empowering communities to better prepare for and protect themselves before, during and after an emergency.

Work hours and days can be negotiated however some after-hours or weekend work may be required to attend and meet with local communities at public events and information sessions.
