Located in a stunning part of regional Victoria with an enviable lifestyle, Central Goldfields Shire is situated right in the geographical centre of Victoria. It sits between the two fastest growing regional cities in Australia: Bendigo and Ballarat and is just two hours from Melbourne. The municipality covers an area of 1,532 square kilometres and has an estimated population of almost 13,000 people.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager Community Wellbeing will utilise their strategic leadership capability to develop and maintain highly valued community support services, providing leadership to the acclaimed Go Goldfields initiative, and overseeing a range of strategies and community plans. The General Manager Community Wellbeing will lead a team made up of Council's Manager Go Goldfields, Manager Community Partnership, Manager Community Services, Manager Tourism, Events & Culture and Coordinator Library Services. With a customer-centric approach to everything you do, the GM Community Wellness will be responsible for developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. As a key member of Council's executive team, the General Manager will work collaboratively across the whole of Council, with elected members (Councillors), community members, and relevant external agencies and government departments, with a view to achieving better local and regional outcomes.

To be considered for this exciting role, you will be a contemporary, future-focused leader with strong alignment to Central Goldfields Shire Council values: customer and community focussed; collaborative and inclusive; challenge the status quo. You will be commercially astute and have proven senior leadership experience in a customer or community focussed role.

With qualifications in Human Services or Social Sciences (or other relevant degree), you have an excellent understanding of the community sector and ideally will have experience in, or appreciation for, the political environment Council operates in. You are known for your ability to empower a multi-disciplinary workforce, fostering a positive, motivated and high performing culture. You will bring highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly form credible and respectful relationships with your key stakeholders.

Note: It is mandatory for all employees to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations and proof of this will be requested. Willingness to undertake a National Police check is also expected.
